brake woos 444-544 1960

Hello there

I am having some brake problems. My rear passenger brake was locking up, and I have read on this board that the wheel cylinder may be leaking and causing the problem. So I got a new one, but it is still locking up. The drums/shoes look fine.

Also the front driver wheel started acting up. It doesn't lock up when I stomp on the brakes, but it gets _very_ stiff to turn and requires more gas then normal to get going again. I did a brake check right in front of my house, and then pulled in to the driveway and could see where the front wheel had traveled, like a little skid mark.

Then I backed out of my driveway and gunned it back and stomped on the brake, no lock up, but there was a loud clunk (don't know where from, but front somewhere I think) my wife thought I had hit something. I took the drum off (was harder then normal, I had checked them a few months ago) and everything looks OK, except for some glazing on the shoe. I adjusted the star wheel to loosen the brakes, but still had a hard time putting the drum back on, and when I did I couldn't turn it by hand with out some assistance (putting the tire back on). The drum looks OK with only a slight "edge" on the outside.

The feel of the pedel seems to vary. Firm one stomp, goes down further the next one, etc.

Any clues? I thinking the master may need a rebuild, maybe its not allowing the brake fluid to backup? I rarely drive this, currently it is a backup car for my 122s.
thanks
shane
