Update to rotary AC compressor-question 200 1983

Yes. I have seen it done. Looks great. Best to use parts from late 240 non turbo. There are Sanden to York adapter plates, but I bought one and tried it and it did not appear to fit perfectly, so I then salvaged all the brackets and parts from a late 240. I sold the car before I converted it, however, so I cannot give you first hand tips. Good local machine shop/auto parts shops can make custom AC hose surprisingly cheap - a great dealer alternative. You can also buy or salvage new style AC condensers that are the stacked plate design and are much more efficient. Vintage Air sells a 14 x 20 horizontal unit that I am using on my 745T, but late VW/Audi and even the Volvo S70 use something similar that could be adapter. You may need a short section of new custom AC hose to adapt off your hard pipes and some custom brackets. With a primary electric fan wired to come on with the compressor you will have great cooling even in town.
