If she's going to be so stubborn, allot the same amount of money to each of you per month for car expenses (payments, repairs, tires,etc.). Let her buy her own car and drive it and maintain it any way she likes, and you do the same. Whatever amount she gets, you get. This is fair, and you might find yourself with all kinds of extra money for tools, etc. as her expenses add up needlessly.
