Need advice on auto transmission 200 1989

BrickBoard.com looks cool!

The car I have is a '89 brick sedan with just over 56k. It comes with auto transmission. Lately the car has been giving me intermittent trouble.

1) Everytime I engage the "D" and depress the accelerator the car suddenly stumbles as if it was ready to quit. The car jerks and stalls as as I try to move it along before it finally smooths out. The gears shift normally and I have no problems with it as long as I'm driving it. But if I stop and go, that problem repeats. When I switch to "N," the engine idles normally. Even more strange, it doesn't happen on some days.

Oh yeah, one time I was driving it around all morning with no problems then all of sudden it shows up- usually after parking it for a short while.

Reason I suspect it to be the transmission is because I get an impression that there was some of seizure in the transmission- torque converter? oil pump? Trans fluid looks good.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
