740 FM radio reception problem 700 1990

Hi guys,

I'm getting faint, occasional static noise with FM radio, and clarity isn't that good either. It seems to be related with area of reception as the static noise increase / decrease depending on where I am. But I do live in the city and most other cars I've been in has better FM reception than my car. I have several Volvo radios and the problems occurs with all of them, not specific to any radio, so I think the problem is in the antenna wiring somewhere. The static doesn't seem to be engine RPM related.

What do you guys think is causing the problem? Is it possible that bad contacts at antenna lead is causing this due to oxidation at the leads? It is a 12 year old car afterall. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
