1969 140 Converting to automatic tranny questions 140-160

Hi All,

My sister has recently acquired a 1969 140 and she really wants to convert it to automatic, the car wasn't left very original by the last owner so I didn't mind lending a hand.

Now to the point. I know 140's were available with the BW35 auto tranny, unfortunately as 140's in wrecking yards are extremely hard to come by a 240 tranny (the BW55 I think) is a lot easier to come by. Will the BW55 bolt straight up to the original B20 block? Also are the linkages etc similar, and finally does the tranny tunnel need widening etc to accomodate the later box?

Any help would be appreciated, even if it only relates to converting a 140 from the 4 speed manual to factory BW35 setup.

Cheers,

Daz
