Has anyone replaced their Bosch alternator with a GM alternator and which one?

There are a lot of nice 140amp alternators available now and I'd sure like to swap one out.

OTOH, Bosh makes a motorsport alternator (B 120 427 927) with a clockwise pulley/fan B 261 205 905) required although I haven't been able to source it yet. Unfortunately, it needs to be running 3000rpm to get 95 amps, only 8 amps at 2000 rpm, (cut in half to get engine rpm), which wouldn't work very well on the street where I'd like 40-60 amps at idle.

Any ideas?
