A/C system retrofit questions - compressor & hoses 200 1989

Hi,

After much research...

Today I started undoing the compressor for the oil change to ester 100 (R134).
I worked from the top as much as possible, to avoid being under the car.
I've taken out much of the intake etc.. to have access, both hoses are now off.
I will be undoing the bolts from underneath.

When I bought the car I was told the A/C system is original R12... NOT. I notice now that the compressor looks very clean and has a top clean sticker "remanufactured compressor". There is no retrofit R12->R134 stickers anywhere. Would I be correct to assume that whatever repairing was done likely was recharged with R12? Is there any way to know? Either way, I will proceed and replace the oil.

To remanufactured compressor have a bad rating?

Also, The low pressure hose (coming from the cabin) looks very new, maybe couple years old. The other hose going to the cond. is rusty at the end, dirty, and has a yellowed plastic clear tubing around it, likely original. Should I have replaced the high pressure hose, assuming it is still original? Do they go easily? My car is an '89 and has another device at the front of the condenser like a muffler with a metal tube... Is that replaced along with the new hose, if I get it?

Any last pointers or encouragement?
