Strut mounts--you pay your money and . . . 200

. . . and you take your chances . . . .

Hi all,

In pursuit of the "ideal" strut mount for the last week or so, I have found the following:

From "AllOEMVolvo," they cost about $60 each, they come in a ScanTech box, and are manufactured in Korea by GMB . . .

From "ipd," they cost about $90 each, and are manufactured by SKF--but also in Korea . . .

From the shelf at my local Volvo dealer, about $135 each, in a sealed Volvo bag (with "country of origin" marked "Sweden")--BUT manufactured in Korea by GMB (markings are identical to those on the ScanTech parts) . . .

I had been willing to pay the premium on the OEM units to avoid some of the problems I'd heard about with the ScanTech mounts, but it now appears the only difference is the cost . . . (over 2X!)

Am I wrong in being a little disappointed in the "new OEM"?

Having had a bad experience with a GMB coolent pump in the past, I'll probably opt for the SKFs from ipd . . . anybody have any experience with these--or able to suggest a better option?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards for a happy and safe Memorial Day (hug a vet!)

Steve A-
