Symptoms of O2 sensor failure? 700 1991

Anyone have any ideas about this problem I am having with my '91 745Ti wagon:

1. Check engine light is on
2. Car starts easily cold or hot, idles regularly cold but somewhat erratically hot, especially in stop and go traffic
3. Mpg is 14
4. Black smoke comes out the tail pipe (running way too rich, I suspect), esp. on acceleration, acceleration is poor
5.At idle, the oil pressure light is either on or glows on and off (as if the car were about to stall, but it doesn't)

I suspect O2 sensor, but it could be any number of fuel-injection related things. Any ideas? I know this is addressed in the FAQ's, but if anyone knows specifically where in the FAQ's it is addressed, that helps me find it. Because of the fairly regular idle and easy starting, I do not suspect the ECU is bad. I drove to NYC and back yesterday (check engine light came on halfway there)and the car ran fine, except in rush hour traffic where the idle got a little erratic, and the fact that the mileage stinks.
