Shouldn't there be a gasket? 700 1989

List,

I'm putting the reworked head onto my '89 740gle 16 valve. Head is torqued on, and now I'm looking at the gasket set and the cam carrier and wondering, shouldn't there be some sort of gasket between the head surface and the bottom of the cam carrier? I had a slight oil leak there before... Should I try to make something? Seems dumb to attempt to improve on a huge $$$$$$$ factory design. Thanks in advance-
