FAILED EMISSIONS TEST NEED HELP!!! 200 1982

Question: "What is the maximum life of a Catalytic convertor?"

Answer: They should last the entire life of your car. You can kill a cat by running leaded gas in your engine (3 tank fulls of leaded gas will effectively kill any functionality of a catalytic converter). Other issues can cause pre-mature failure such as mechanical damage, and possibly running a rich mixture for too long. The stock cat that is put on your car at the time of assembly should have a 'minimum' life expectancy of 10 years. This is required by the government and is included on most manufacturer emissions programs (whether written or unwritten).

God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
