starting a 240 that has been in storge for 6 years 200

got a 86 240 that last 'ran' 6 years ago, was not 'properly stored' wanna start and run BUT don't want to use the gastank,or any of the fuel pumps.

anyone ever disconnected the fuel line and 'rigged-up' a fuel source to the fuel-rail? my thoughts are to use an in-line fuel pump from a garden variety,
hardware gas can, hooked to the supply side of the fuel rail.

QUESTION what is the pressure the in-tank and under-the-body fuel tank supplies to the fuel rail?
QUESTION anyone ever used the under-the-body fuel pump from a gas can hooked to the fuel rail?

why go to much trouble, ever had a bad experience with 'varnished gas'?
