Auto box mode buttons 900 1995

Hi Guys,
I have a 95 960, Have just replaced the PNP Switch in the hope that this would iliminate the mode buttons flashing and the Box reverting to get you home mode when it gets warm. I now have reversing lights (i didn't before)but the mode buttons are still flashing and after a 15 drive the box started to revert to 3rd and 4th again. Does anything have to be done after fitting a new switch or should it have sorted the problem out, is there something that i have not done or checked?> Any comments will be appreciated.
