Optional Tire Pressure?? 200 1993

What's up with the "optional" tire pressure listed on the panel in the passenger door well?

Is this as it seems...i.e. with less people/weight in the car I can lower the tire pressures and get a smoother (yet more expensive - fuel) ride?

Just wondering. Anyone use a "happy" medium around 30-32ish all around? Any reason for always 36? Diff front to back better?

Ok, let the opinion fly...who likes what and why?

Thanks,

Pete
