Car won't start!! 200 1980

Last week my car refused to start. I left it alone for a few hours and it started, but when even I touched the gas the engine would nearly stall. Right now it is stranded at my work parking lot. I think it might be something wrong with my fuel pump. The relay seems to click and I can hear one of the pumps making noise. Would this be the main pump or the in tank pump? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
