IPD / TME Sport Exhaust for my 87 745 T- a review 700

I just installed this system in roughly 2.5 hrs. Every thing fit perfectly even though they forgot to send any instructions. I have a factory hitch that had to be notched for clearance at the rear of the muffler. You have to drill 4 holes, two self tappers go into a blind channel, the other two go next to the spare tire well. In the end I found that 1/2" clearance is necessary since the system will "grow" that much due to thermal expansion, you will know if you have clearance issues due to the racket transmitted through the chassis.

The exhaust tone is rich, deep and powerful though not objectionable, certainly not a "ricer" sound although if you put it on a non turbo it might not sound as sweet. The turbo does muffle alot of exhaust noise.

The 3" chrome outlet with IPD logo is nice but the hitch clearance issues causes it to be recessed about 2 1/2" from the edge of the bumper, it's low enough that I haven't noticed any temperature increase on the bumper plastic nor any exhaust gases in the car.

IPD had this stainless system on sale and was only about $50 more than the estimate for a non-stainless system at a reputable independent muffler shop.

I like doing my own work and like it when it's well designed and fits. Worth the money IMHO!
