Odometer Help 200

The odometer on my '87 240 Wagon no longer is working. Any suggestions as to how to get it working again so I can know when to change my oil? Also, I've recently been having trouble with cold starts. The car wont start on the first time, but after dying it will start fine the second time. It also seems to have some issues when going into reverse or drive. Is this a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve? Any Input is well appreciated.
