I have a problem that is not going to let me sleep or relax for a couple of days. I took my car into a mechanic shop to get the head gasket replaced. My friend did an internship at the shop for 6 weeks and with the help of the mechanics he rebuilt a 1975 BMW 2002 engine. He told me that there were some really good mechanics and some that were not as good at the shop. He told me about one mechanic who he thought really knew how to work on cars and is the best in the shop. All I heard from my friend was praise about the shop for 6 weeks. I decided to take my car there because they seemed to be good mechanics. I took it in and asked for the good mechanic to work on it and they said they would have him do it. The first thing that is annoying me is that it's taken much longer than they said and everytime I check to see if my car is ready when they say, it's always not.
Then two bits of information they told me was very scary to me. They told me that I put in the wrong radiator because the hose that goes from the radiator to the overflow tank goes over the intercooler piping. This insulted me deeply because I take pride in my own installs. This also made me wonder how well they know Volvos, becuase it is the correct radiator. Then the most scary information came later. They said the car didn't have the original engine. My car is a 1985 245 turbo w/intercooler with a b21ft. They claimed that the 1985 cars didn't have a 2.1L engine. This is a Volvo specializing shop with suposedly the best mechanic working on my car!!!! How could they correctly replace engine parts like the head gasket without knowing that the 85 turbos do have 2.1L engines!!! I'm going to go CRAZY!!!! AHHHHHH!
What do you guys think?
