142 B20 E- - - fuel pump problems 140-160 1972

They make noise, but don't pump gas? Or are they stuck? In any case, what is causing the damage? Normally they last quite a long time, I'm just guessing that something is getting into the pump and wreckiing it, like little rust particles from the tank. There should be a rough screen filter in the tank to stop the big chunks, and a fine metal canister filter between the tank and pump (and not on the return line!).

If they are running but not maintaining the 28 psi needed at the engine have you checked the pressure regulator?
