No power under load, bad FPR? 700 1987

Sounds like it needs a tune up.

Mine 240 did the same a few months ago. i thought it was vaccum hoses, FP Reg., etc. I replaced the FPreg with a new one, but still would 'miss' while going up a hill or under load. Even had bad idle when placed in 'D'. turned out to be the Pep-boys' ignition wires I replaced last year in august. I have some German made ones which my buddy had laying around. Although I don't expect it to last as long (maybe it will surprise me!) as the OEM ones. I would start by performing a tune-up. If the engine oil smells funny as if it is contaminated with unburnt gasoline, replace it right after the tune-up or after you have fixed the problem.

Check the following URL on testing FPReg.
