Remove the compressor to convert R12 to R134? 700 1989

I've got the OEM Volvo kit from FCPGroton to convert R12 to R134 freon on 89 740. Tech asked if I wanted him to remove the compressor to fill with PAG oil. He also said the job would go faster (less chance of breaking something) if he vacuumed the system and put in the oil into the rear hose connection of the compressor, then added the R134.
Should I have him take out the compressor?
GIA,
