Air Conditioning - Drain Cleaning How? 700 1991

I've had an on going problem with the drain tube from the A/C blocking and water backing up into the FAN motor....
I've fished a wire up into the hose to clear the blockage but
I can't figure out how to get into the heater/condenser to clean the darn thing.
I'm wondering if you have to go in from the air intake at the base of the windshield, it looks like the cowling with the inlet grill can be removed
and then maybe you can access the innards that way...or is there a better way to do this??? Thx DS
