Opportunity to purchase `90 244, but........ 200

I have a friend who has offered to sell me 1990 240 sedan for $1000. I haven't had the chance to see or drive the car yet, but when I asked him how many miles were on it he told me the odometer was in kilometers instead of miles. This would lead me to believe that the the car is probably a Canadian market vehicle. Assuming that the car IS from the "great white north", can anyone tell me what major mechanical differences there may be and how difficult would it be to get those parts here in the US??
