did i kill my iac ? 700 1989

In a fit of spring like enthusiasm I did some work on my 740 replaced the plugs wires cap rotor clean the throttle body flame trap and iac- when I first drove it no problems then I parked it and came back four hours later and the beast wants to idle at 200-500 rpm - i have to keep one foot on the gas to keep it from stalling at lights, I checked everything again and discovered if I unplug the IAC it idles normally- did I kill it with Throttle Body spray ? Can I drive with it unplugged ? Why is the thing so expensive ? Does anyone have one laying around ? Help !! Thanks
