Smog high idle test and automatic tranny 700

Hey, just went to get my car smogged here in beautiful California City, Ca.
and the tech showed me a warning on the screen "to proceed further may cause damage to your transmission: The car is an 1986+ 745 Turbo with An AW-1 tranny. I have searched the archives and am still not clear on this issue, does that warning apply only to NA cars with a ZF tranny???? Are turbos with AW safe to be tested in this way???? As I understand it the ZF tranny does not lubricate in neutral.

The question is moot if the test station has a dyno, but here they don't have a dyno. I would have to travel quite a distance to find a shop with a dyno. So If any one can shed light on this issue, Thanks
ron
