I have researched the archives and found most of the info I need but I am still having some problems. I am changing the belt on a 89 240 gl. I am able to line up the timing marks on the cam and intermediate gear with the marks on the belt and notches on the timing cover. after that I have two problems. I am unable to line up the double line mark that is susposed to line up with crankshaft gear some how. With all three timing marks (cam crank and inter) lined up and the two single line marks on the belt lined up with the cam and intermediate gears the double line mark on the belt not even on the crank gear. I turn the engine over once or twice and all of the marks on the belt are off by two or three teeth. The timing marks on the cam and crank and intermediate gears are still lininn up. Another problem is that the belt is working its way of the the front of all the gear even with the pulley and guiding washers installed. Besides being inexperienced with volvo what am I doing wrong?
