Air Cond stops during acceleration 900 1993

My 93 960 has started giving me a hissing sound from the front vents, when the air conditioner is off. It goes away when I accelerate, but comes back when I idle (sounds similar to the hissing I hear when the air conditioner is first turned off). It doesn't matter what position the fan switch is in, even happens when it is off (must not be the fan).

Also, (could be related) my air conditioner cools great, but when I accelerate moderately or heavily, the air flow completely stops from the vents. As soon as I release my foot from the accelerator, the air flow comes back. This happens whether I am in auto or manual on the fan.
Anyone heard of this?

Thanks.

Bill Jackson
