How-To seal distributor cap from water..... 200 1983

I've never had surface water bother my 240's. The splash pan makes a big difference there. I have gotten water in the distributor when I washed the engine. I prevented this problem by smearing silicone dielectric grease around the rim of the distributo cap. I also coat the inside of the spark wire boots, the spark plug boots, and the coil boots with this grease. Haven't had a moisture problem since I started doing this. In fact this grease also is very useful for the brake anti-squeal shims and rubber parts (don't let it get on the pads or rotors). I use Sylglide brand.
