I found my wires to be severely deteriorated underneath the intake manifold. Especially the wires for the injectors, I soldered in replacement wires that lasted for several years however I eventually replaced the engine harness with a new one from Beechmont Volvo. It was about $350 and not hard to install. (tip-get new cable ties from Volvo for across the firewall)
Hopefully it's not the harness! Good luck!
