Speedometer problem - is it easy to fix? 700 1990

You will find the rear speed sensor mounted on the rear diff cover. You will also notice the drain plug on this cover as well. The speed sensor is the one with the two wires coming out of it.

You will probably have to drain the diff, remove the cover plate and inspect the sensor. This is easier than trying to remove the sensor with the plate still on.

The collection of metal filings on the sensor can cause problems with the sensor reading.

Also check the connector to the speed sensor and ensure that it is not corroded or dirty.
