brake questions, possible soft brake pedal? 900 1993

Hi,

I have a 93 940 and I have a couple of brake-related questions:

1. When turning ignition to II position, should the brake warning light come on ("bulb test")? I see the SRS, ABS, Check Engine, Low Oil Pressure, but no brake warning!

2. When the engine is not running and the servo doesn't do its assistance job, I can stand on the brake pedal and it will only depress a little bit, which I hope is what it's supposed to do.

3. When the engine is running I can make the brake pedal go all the way to the metal without applying too much force. I also think that while doing some 0-30mph and hard braking the ABS activates only when the brake pedal is like 0.5" away from the "metal" (end of travel). I feel it may be going "soft"/"low".

Are there any cheap tests I can do to diagnose which part of the system may be on the edge?

As a side note, when buying the car, it had front brake rotors/pads replaced by the dealer -- the rotors were warped.

Thanks for all your help -- this forum is invaluable as always. Kuba
