i'm fixin to shoot myself! What is up with this car? "86 740 4cyl 260k. When this car doesn't start which is more and more often the warning lights on the dashboard will dim and brighten by themselves or if I touch the brake or if I move the shifter or if I tap my foot on the side panel or if I whack the dash or if I swing a chicken over my head and blink my left eye!!! The relay(s) click. Rapidly sometimes. Actually the power window relay clicks!!! The starter/solenoid sometimes clicks. Lately I press the gearshift forward and to the right to start it although this doesn't always work. I took the small wire off the solenoid and the dash warning lights seemed not to dim but of course it wouldn't start. I yanked on the battery ground cable once and it started. I turned it off and it wouldn't start again. Also the rpm's in idle are seriously all over the place. Ghost acceleration bigtime. Possibly the idle air control I guess. Could this be some weird ground problem. I just replaced the ignition switch by the way. Anyway I'm done venting. thanks for any ideas. volvos are still better than chevys!!!
