81 GLE a/c parts into 87 745? (Canadian cars) 200 1981

I am buying for my wife/kids an 87 745 with blown a/c evaporator and condenser, maybe compressor also. PO did not service a/c since the car was born. The 745 is beautiful, but my wife would prefer working a/c.

Can I take a/c parts out of 81 GLE 4 door --> 87 745 ?

I can buy a somewhat rusty but working well 81 GLE including working a/c, and the car as a whole is less than the cost of the used 745 a/c parts. Also have taken advice from previous posts and looked at FPCGroton. However, it's out of the budget and I'd like to drive the GLE myself, giving up a dying older VW.

BTW, a professional shop filled the a/c with nitrogen then R12 at very low pressure to diagnose for me, then recovered the R12. It seems R12 is easier to get here but they are very careful not to allow significant escape.
