drivability issues 700 1990

Update - I unpluged the AMM before I started the car this time. Ran worse. Real bad idle and accelleration. Took it off the AMM assembly etc and bingo, the foam issue. CW you were right on. The foam was degrading and fouling the AMM screens. Cleaned that up, the element was in tact, Q tiped out the foam bits that made it past the screen and reassembled. I can't believe I hadn't seen the foam issue before. If I had an enemy with a turbo air box I have him remove that foam. BTW, is there no flapper/air box thermo on the Turbo? Mine sure doesn't have them. One less thing to worry about? Once all back together the idle was high and surged from 1000 to 1500. I has settled down to 1000, which I gues would make sense having removed air restrictions. Much more acceleration/power now. Forget K&N upgrade. I'll let her sit for a couple days and see where she goes. With all this sensor stuff sometimes I feel like a dog chasing its tail. Does the ECM have "learning" capabilities? My gut tells me I'll be back to the board soon though. For today at least you guys are my heros. I'll try and get my post up soon re an mproved DIY mod for the armrest with an added bonus of a place to put a cup holder. US$100 on ebay for the OE one was crazy. Thanks again.
