122 wagon rear end flange difference 120-130 1967

A friend with a 67 wagon needs a rear end. I went out to Cralisle, Pa. and picked one up from Joe Lazenby. The replacementt one has a rectangular flange, and the drive shaft and rear in my friend's car has a round ones. I'm pretty certain that the bolt holes will line up. He's wondering why the different flange shapes. He's loathe to swap flanges. Is there any problem mating these?
