Dash pad 1974 144 140-160 1974

Hello,
I just bought a well used 1974 144. This will be my third Volvo, although the two previous ones were about 20 years ago.
The 144 has a lot of cracks in the dashboard. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the dash pads that lay flat over the existing dash. I asked this question on another board and got a nice reply, but wanted to hear from more people that might have relevant experience.
