Trans swap 200 1989

My 89 - 245 lost reverse and won't shift into 3rd...unless I get her up to 80 plus MPH. Shifts strong, however.....Any thoughts on swapping out the auto for a M-47 ? Off the donor 245: I have everything from flywheel to complete driveshaft and all supports. Pitfalls ?? Headaches ?? General pain..?? The 89 Auto has the timing sensor off the torque converter. What should I be prepared for...other than grunting,busted knuckles, and associated choice words ??
