Tripometer troubleshoot

I just disassembled my odometer to check the small gear that broke, etc.. the usual. I'm ordering a new gear, but when I took my cluster out the tripometer button fell out. A spring also fell out with it. My question is where does the spring go and can I just glue the button back. the mechanism is just hanging loose and I have no idea where the spring came from and how to get it back to normal. thanks!!
