Process of electrical elimination....now what? 200 1988

My problem: When I turn on my lights my high beam indicator and turn signal indicators start to glow, I have no instrument cluster illumination lights, and the temp. gauge goes whacky, like way hot when I know it's not.

So far, this is what I've done to chase down the problem: I've cleaned up both headlamp grounding points on the fenders on both sides of the engine compartment, I have cleaned up the contacts on back of the instrument cluster and temp. compensating board, and I've cleaned up the grounding point for the instrument cluster behind the dash near your right knee. In addition, I have unhooked all of the connections (one by one) for the right and left headlamps and running lights, and the rear light assemblies. None of this had any effect.

What else have I not checked? What else can I do to try to isolate the problem?
