Crap lights 200 1983

Is there any way of improving my headlights without adding a set of driving lights. The reflective surfaces look OK and the lights seem bright when you park the car and walk down the road to look back at them.But from behind the wheel they don't do a good job of illuminating the way at all.(very yellow) And high beam is not much better.Alignment seems OK.These headlights sure are big but is this poor output normal?
