'89 740 radio - need code? 700 1989

Most aftermarket installs won't use the amp. But they probably will use the wires going to the speakers. So what they (the installers) may have done is cut the wires coming out of the amp, and wired the Sony system up to those wires. Now you're running a signal through the amp again (because you're using the original wiring) but the amp is no longer connected to the speakers.

This is just one possible scenerio. Check it out to see if I'm right.
