940 speed-up 900 1995

My 95 (B230FD)exibits a transitory problem that occurs randomly. The symptoms are an increase in RPM of about 2000 RPS at any speed or in park. It has happened virually every time it is driven and my wife no refuses to drive it. Also, when hot, it does not start reliably...quite often it takes 20 min. of cool down to get it back to starting. It has been known to run very rough after one of the non-start bouts when it finally is started. I tried cleaning the "throttle plate" with spray cleaner to no avail. The error codes were 121 and 113 which indicate a low/high fuel pressure and Mass Air Flow sensor. I tried disconnecting the cable to the MAF and it ran poorly, but it ran. It also came back on line when reconnected. Im stumped but I now thionk it is fuel. My Volvo mechanic is stumped and need to "see the car" (a euphamism for give me $300)! Any thoughts from the experts?
