Worthy Project?? 200 1984

I have an '84 245 non-turbo wagon. Its not running now and it needs lots of TLC inside and out. I wanted to know how much (time and money) some of you have spent on restorations like this in the past. Ya know, nothing fancy just now. Get it running strong and some appearence stuff.
I'm 20 year old college student who currently lives at home. I drive a well used Dakota as of now.
Oh, my income is only $400-500 a month but have no bills and I don't have much mechanical knowledge to speak of either.

Do you think its is worth it to get this beast running and perty again this summer? or should I save my pennies for a newer vehicle?

Thanks for any ideas and help,
Washington Volvophile
