Battery Connection 200 1981

The clamp for one of my battery wires won't take a firm seat on the battery. From what I can tell, the cylinder battery post is very slightly "coned" leaving the top narrower than the bottom and preventing a tinght fit because the clamp just slides up. I don't want to go over a bump and loose power.

Is the post thick enough for me to file it a little, or should I use a small ammount of Goop or something on the top to hold it in place. I know this would ba a pain down the road, but the battery is fairly new and in good shape, so hopefully I won't be having to disconnect any time soon.
