CD Player

I would like to get a universal wiring adapter so that I can install my cd player in the car...but I have no idea where the factory adapter is. Would it be inside of the factory radio, or would it be stuck deep inside the car where I have to tear out the dashboard to get to it?

Also, I know that Volvo didn't make Cd players for car born in 1988. But would a 1991 factory cd player fit into a 1988 740 or did they make differently? If so, then does anyone know where I can find one really cheap?

Thanks!!!
