Multiple 240 problems 200 1976

1. You can obtain a new door switch from the dealer or a wrecking yard. IPD may have door switches, but I didn't see any in the catalog. Call them 800-444-6473.
2. You can drop the fuel tank easily. Jack up the front of the car and place the right and left side on jack stands. Then jack up the back of the car and place the rear right and left on jack stands. drain the fuel tank. disconnect the fuel lines to the in-tank pump and fuel return line. Place a floor jack under the tank with a piece of wood to support it. remove the bolts holding the tank and lower it to the ground.

Remove the in-tank pump and sending unit assembly. Have a telescoping magnet ready. The in-tank pump/sending unit assembly will sometimes come apart while you are trying to remove it and metal parts will fall into the tank. That is why you need to very long magnet. Its easy to put back together, but you need all the parts (don't forget the little spring).

Flush the tank. Eastwood (800-345-1178, www.eastwoodcompany.com) has several items that can repair, clean and seal your tank. They also have other stuff for complete restoration of cars, great stuff.

I just bought a fuel filler neck from my dealer, so I know they can get it for you. They go out of round and leads to fuel leaks and fuel smells in the car. Can't fix it by trying to correct the roundness, I had to replace the fuel filler neck to eliminate the problem.

Fuel tank assembly; Wrecking yard.

All other parts; Wrecking yard or IPD.

Enjoy.
