Frequency Valve Woes 200

My sons 82 240, B21F CI with Lambda Sond has developed a problem. About 6 months ago the frequency valve started leaking gas from its housing. I was able to find a good used valve and replaced it. This week he noticed a gas smell, and upon inspection, sure enough it was leaking again. I visited most of the bone yards in the closest city and couldn't find another. He leaves for college in about 2 months and I probably will get him another Volvo to drive to school (5 hr. drive). I don't want to spend the dough for a new valve, especially if something is causing them to fail prematurely. My question is: Is it possible to remove this valve and simply bypass it? I know that it has a tiny orifice, which I can build into the bypass. I've had the valve grounded to the chassis (which bypasses the Lambda ECU and holds the valve open constantly) and I suspect that this is causing most of the valve problem. The ECU is defective and the car runs great without it buzzing the valve. I'm just trying to keep it going for 2 more months and then I'll probably part it out. I bought the car for $500 2 years ago, and I've sure got my money out of it. Is there any tricks?
