Really Scary Intermittant Brake Failure...Wow! 200 1990

Greetings, Bricksters, from Cleveland. Here's the scoop. A friend indicated that his 1990 240 has "some kinda problem." He's not just whistlin' Dixie! Drives the car for a while, then parks it, like to go to the store, for example. Gets in, fires it up, drives off, and ....no brakes! pedal goes to the floor for two or three pumps and then is right back up and working fine. Fluid is up, all vacuum lines are correct, pads are right. Anyone else have this problem? What's up? As you can guess, this is somewhat 'time critical' so I'd like to limit the guesswork. Thanks in advance, as always.

Brad
