Thumping suspension.... 200 1990

My car (219K) has just developed a thumping noise emanating from the left front. It makes a thump-thump-thump when traveling at moderate to high speeds. I know it sounds like a tire problem, but a quick visual glance revealed no problem with the tire. Will investigate that further.

Rack, ball joints, tie rods replaced. Struts tired. Could it be the strut cartridge or strut mount?

Don't think this is related, but I do have another suspension noise. The car has had a clunk when going over rough pavement for quite sometime. This I believe is either the strut or a bad control arm bushing. I know the strut is bad but I haven't pulled the cover off the bushing yet and looked at it. I can imagine what I'll find at 219k - battered and bruised bushing!!!

Any help/thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Jim
